Today is another normal weekend where it is time for me to relax. Soon it was four in the afternoon. My parents and I left home for our weekly routine, the dragonboat practice.
My parents take this activity very seriously as it will be their only chance to exercise in their busy week. The team we joined is called the Kowloon Club. The special thing about our team is that all of us are not born in Singapore, but from other parts of Asia. Also, there are only two people under the age of fifteen including me! Every week, we practice for two hours to train for competitions like the river regatta at the year. We pratice our starts and our body endurance usually. Sometimes we have games too and I love them.
Firstly, we usually warm up ourselves by paddling for around six hundred metres. Next we will train our starts, drills and then pair-rowing. Pair-rowing is actually a pair rowing the boat by themselvs only. After around ten strokes, the next pair follows up. This continues around for a few sets. After that, we paddled the boat up to the beach to train on our teamwork. Then, we would push the boat back to the seas and we start doing the fast strokes. This training trains our stamina. We do around thirty strokes at around eighteen seconds. It was very fast. My friend Matthew was so tired that he claimed that he was dying. After that, the trainig ended.
My parents and I went home straight after the tiring but fun dragonboat pratice.
